In the lead up to Christmas, we have supported homeless and vulnerable families in north London through the donation of books, toys and festive treats.
Our Christmas Lights Campaign gave us the opportunity to work with two great community organisations to make a difference to these families and their children: CARIS Haringey and Park Lane Children's Centre.
We were able to give a little hope to these families by distributing vital essentials, including clothing, non-perishable food items, toiletries, toys and baby supplies.
Through the support of the generous public, we were also able to distribute books to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, who are less likely to read well, to access libraries or to have books at home.
The Christmas Lights campaign has been ongoing for the past four years! Thanks to our supporters (including Investec, Unilever, IKEA Tottenham, Romulo Café, Pickled Pepper Books, Walker Books) we have been able to reach around 100 families each year across the two centres.
After last year's campaign, Marlene D’Aguilar, director of Park Lane, said: “The Wonder Foundation did a great job last year bringing 50 parcels for families who were in need. You ought to have seen the children’s faces when they got their gifts, and the families when they got the packages. We really want to see smiles on these families’ faces again this Christmas.”
