Jenica, student at FTPI Manila, Philippines.

Jenica didn't think she had many options after she completed her secondary education, as her family couldn't afford to send her to college. However, while working as a housemaid for her aunt's friend, the Foundation for Professional Training Incorporated (FPTI) was recommended to her by her employer.

Chasing her Dreams!

With support from Wonder Foundation, Jenica received a scholarship to continue her studies, allowing her to chase her dreams!

"It is thanks to Wonder Foundation and the scholarship I received that I can now study and work towards achieving my dreams."

A Budding Baker

Students at FPTI are provided opportunities to train and gain skills in hospitality, management and business, leading to higher quality employment. Jenica enjoys using her creativity, especially when baking, and one of the most important things that she has learnt is putting love into everything she does.

Getting through Difficult Times

Students also receive one-to-one mentoring, and this helped Jenica, in particular, when she was experiencing a tough time when her mum passed away.

"My mother died of cancer last summer, and my mentor was there to advise me on how to face my problems and stay strong. With her help, I learned to persevere."

Thinking of Others

Upon completing her training, Jenica not only aspires to work in the hospitality industry but she hopes to support her family and ensure her siblings complete their education.
