Poverty and financial difficulties can make it difficult for girls to complete their education in Nigeria. Being a girl with few opportunities leaves them vulnerable to early marriage, child pregnancy, forced servitude and trafficking.
Early marriage was not an option for Ujunwa, and her father defied societal expectations of forcing her into an early marriage despite their financial struggles.
With support from Wonder Foundation, Ujunwa was awarded a scholarship to help ease the financial burden of her education, allowing her to progress to her second year of college and pursue her dreams at Lantana College.
"Thanks to the scholarship I was granted, I can continue my education in Lantana and help my family solve some of their financial problems, especially their health problems.”
You can continue to empower more girls like Ujunwa through education by supporting Wonder Foundation today through our crowdfunding project.
We've only got 5 weeks to raise the money and secure our spot on GlobalGiving in order to continue using their fundraising platform to promote future projects, but we can only achieve this with your support!
