The clock is ticking... Help us meet our GlobalGiving fundraising target!

Wednesday, May 30, 2018

Wonder is competing with initiatives from across Africa to see who can first raise £3,000 as part of our GlobalGiving crowdfunding project. We are currently in 6th place but need your support, so we can raise the target amount of £3,000 by 30th May and invest in 50 Nigerian girls to be a beacon of hope to those around them.

The money raised will support young women like Ujunwa (pictured below) to access quality vocational training in the growing hospitality and tourism industry.

Girls and women who struggle to complete their education due to their families' financial instability can easily feel like they have few options and cannot compete in Nigeria's busy job market.

Although Ujunwa's family struggled financially, her father defied societal expectations of forcing her into an early marriage and instead wanted her to continue her education.

With support from Wonder Foundation, Ujunwa was awarded a scholarship to help ease the financial burden of her education, allowing her to progress to her second year of college and pursue her dreams at Lantana College.

"Thanks to the scholarship I was granted, I can continue my education in Lantana and help my family solve some of their financial problems, especially their health problems.”

The young women we educate aspire to continue their education to fulfil their own potential and share in the country's dynamic economic growth. Our graduates move into secure employment or entrepreneurship and become confident leaders in their families and communities, inspiring others and improving their economic situations long-term.

"Every year we work with 200 young women, giving them the chance to achieve 3Es-Empowerment, Employment and Education. We are so grateful for the support that we receive from Wonder Foundation and people all around the world." Ebele, Director of Education, Women's Board.

Share your blessings with a girl in need today. With your support, we can train more young women like Ujunwa, who will multiply what you invest in her. Give today!

We've only got until 30th May to raise the money and secure our spot on GlobalGiving in order to continue using their fundraising platform to promote future projects, but we can only achieve this with your support!
