The enterprise, which set up by Tokunbo Ahmed and Michael Chapman in 2017, has seen an exciting first year of growth and expansion. Throughout their business journey, the owners have always felt it important to give something back. Wonder Foundation is delighted to be shortlisted as one of the charities which will they will support with a monthly donation from the sales of their innovative swim caps.
The Soul Care Shop was established after spotting a gap in the swimwear market for quality swimming caps for thick long hair. "We tried plenty of swimming caps designed for big and long hair, and we found they didn’t have the high-quality feel we’ve come to expect from our sportswear. They were too thin, too cheap, and they just weren’t built to last. So we decided to do something about it."
Choosing to give back
Not only did they come up with a solution of durable, skin-friendly, breathable, lightweight large swimming cap that they wished they'd had all along, but they recognised that throughout their journey they were also able to give something back: "We consider ourselves lucky at The Soul Care Shop. As hard as we’ve worked on our products and our business, we recognise that there are others who just aren’t getting the same opportunities, no matter how much they sacrifice."
Going forward, the brand will be making a monthly donation to the Wonder Foundation – equivalent to 1% of profits. As a small charity, this will have a significant impact on our income, and we are looking forward to working with Soul Care Shop in ensuring the donations positively transform the lives of women through education around the world.
