Wonder Foundation is raising money for our partners in Guatemala to support families affected by the devasting volcanic eruption on Sunday. More than 1.7 million people have been affected and 69 people reported dead in what has been described as the most violent eruption in centuries.
Our partner school Junkabal in Guatemala City is situated 40 miles away from the volcano and is largely unaffected, experiencing only thick volcanic ash.
Providing relief to the most vulnerable
However, many families of past and present students have been affected, and we desperately need your support to provide emergency relief to the most vulnerable, including women and children from poorer backgrounds who may have lost everything.
Junkabal school is a vital pillar of hope within the community and provides high-quality education to vulnerable families.
Making your donation go further
Working through Junkabal, a well-respected, locally-led project, means your money goes further. The school already has local connections and understand the area affected, which means your donations will go directly to people in affected regions.
Empowering local leadership
Our partners are able to mobilise many local volunteers, who speak local languages and understand local culture, identifying who most needs help and saving time and money in logistics and distribution. This means your donation will go further.
Let's give local people in Guatemala the chance to support and lift up their families and communities during this time of devastation. Donate now:
